At STRETCHED OUT, we utilize the Fascia Stretch Therapy techinique, which is the GOLD standard of stretch therapy. Structurally, the fascia system suspends, supports, and enables all anatomical movement from skin to cells. When fascia is restricted by immobility, injury, and lifestyle it gets compressed, shortens, and space is diminished within joints and the entire body. Pain and impaired function is often the result, negatively impacting many aspects of your life.
We utilize a unique, proprietary brand of assisted manual stretching, compression, and oscillation to regulate the tension of fascial tissues as needed. When excessive, FST reduces tension and, when deficient, FST increases tension. Objective measurements like ROM (range of motion) full body functional movements, strength, balance, speed, power, HRV (heart rate variability), BP (blood pressure), tissue specific frequency and pain scores among other tests have all been shown to improve, often dramatically, after a FST session. Improvements in sleep, digestion, mood, mental alertness and function, attitude, and other factors have been experienced.
Recognizing the critical role that the fascial system plays in the human body, mind, emotions, and spirit, Fascia Stretch Therapy specializes in evaluating and assessing the individual before treating the person with assisted stretching alone or combined with other techniques and modalities. Unlike standardized, cookie-cutter approaches, FST is personalized and individualized so that each person is treated specific to their unique needs and goals.
SaraMae is a lifelong, avid athlete and personal trainer. Movement and fitness have been her life's work. Hard work and hard hitting fitness have been her way of life. She knows what it means to push the body to its limit and unlock its potential. She also knows what it means when they say "the body keeps the score."
In 2012, SaraMae was running up stadium stairs with her bootcamp clients when something felt off. As most athletes do, she continued to push through the pain until the pain landed her in the ER on life support and in a coma unexpected to live. As a result, she ultimately had to have both legs amputated below the knees and her right hip replaced.
With a background in bodywork, kinesiology and sports psychology, SaraMae knew that her lifestyle of self sacrifice and self neglect had contributed to her near death, and that she had the ability to nurture and nourish her body from rock bottom, back to life and beyond. While fitness is still one of her greatest passions, she now does it from a place of reverence for herself and others. We only get one body, it is our greatest responsibility to treat it right.
It is her passion to pay health, healing and wellbeing forward so that others can fulfill their God given potential and purpose without sacrificing self in the process. Professional athletes, first responders, and entire generations of families have improved the quality of their lives with Fascia Stretch Therapy™. SaraMae is a Level 3 Certified Stretch Specialist from the prestigious Stretch to Win Institute where she has had the privilege to receive hands on training from the founders, Ann and Chris Frederick.
The Frederick Stretch Therapy technique leans into the shifting paradigms and treats the whole person, not just a body part. It is pain-free and uses constant circulatory, gently oscillating movements of traction and stabilization to decompress joints and expand space in the soft tissues. Beyond gaining range of motion where needed, one experiences vastly improved kinesthesia (ability to move with ease) and proprioception (sense of one’s posture both when still and in movement). An overall feeling of wellbeing, confidence, and ease with oneself after receiving FST is the capstone to personal and professional transformation.
